The meaning
Even when life felt empty, something was still holding every broken part together.
The song begins inside isolation and slowly opens into recognition: the listener was never as abandoned as the darkness made them feel.
Middle Child presents · July 31, 2026
Some songs are released.
Some are survived.
Emotional electronic music for people carrying more than they show.
Middle Child feat. lowly sunday · BVSS FVM
For whoever needed to find this
You do not have to explain what you are carrying. Stay for a song, read the story, or just take a quiet minute.
The new chapter
“Never Alone” was shaped by depression, grief, faith, healing, and a cancer diagnosis. It does not pretend darkness is easy. It simply leaves a light on inside it.
The meaning
The song begins inside isolation and slowly opens into recognition: the listener was never as abandoned as the darkness made them feel.
The sound
Dark synth pulses, atmospheric space, warm low end, guitar texture, and a vocal hook that grows from fragile to cathartic.
Wounded → hopeful
intimate → cinematic
Never Alone
Written and released by Middle Child, featuring Dan’s own lowly sunday vocal alias.
Pre-save for July 31 ↗Empty room, cold and hollow every night feels like the last something reaching through the darkness like an echo from my past like a voice inside the silence like a hand I cannot see holding every broken part of me
I thought I was invisible I thought no one knew but something in the dark was always pulling me through
I was never alone even in the fire every time I broke You were pulling me higher I was never alone through the dark and the pain something held me close and called me by name
I don’t know how to name it but I know that it is real every wound I carried somehow started to heal
…never alone
…never alone
The catalog
Middle Child has always been an outlet for what is difficult to say plainly. Each release belongs to a different season, but the thread is the same: feeling made audible.
A wounded but hopeful return built from dark synths, warm low end, guitar, and a drop that blooms instead of attacks.
A defining Middle Child release approaching one million Spotify streams.
Part of the first major future-bass era: emotional, melodic, and built for release.
A bright, melodic track rooted in the original Middle Child sound.
A hopeful chapter in a catalog built around feeling, movement, and connection.
A fan-connected release from the project’s first wave of momentum.
The artist
Middle Child is the emotional electronic project of Minneapolis artist and producer Dan Larson.
It began in 2014 after more than a decade of guitar, bands, rap, beat-making, electronic production, and DJing. The project became a form of self-expression, therapy, and a way to give hope to people navigating mental health and substance-use struggles.
The 2017 chapter brought releases including “Awaken,” “Miracle,” “Bliss,” “Mercy,” and “YOU,” alongside support from electronic-music media and listeners around the world.
“Never Alone” marks a return after years away. It carries the same emotional core, but with more scars, more perspective, and a quieter kind of hope.
Approved videos, streams, podcasts, films, nonprofit projects, and social content can use selected music under a clear license.
The music is not copyright-free. Middle Child and BVSS FVM retain ownership while granting specific permissions.
